Timestamp challenges for watch buyers and sellers
Issue a public challenge record: a Challenge ID and required watch time. Use it to coordinate a handwritten timestamp photo — the same way many marketplaces suggest, with a fixed record you can look up later.
What this is
A timestamp challenge is a small public record: a Challenge ID, a required watch time, when it was issued, when it expires (after 14 days by default), and an optional username. Anyone with the ID can open the public record lookup page. It is a buyer/seller coordination record — not a review of the watch itself.
How buyers use it
Create a challenge, then send the seller a message with the Challenge ID, required watch time, and public record link. The seller sets the physical watch to the required time and includes a handwritten note with username and date (your community may also expect the Challenge ID in the photo — follow the rules where you post).
How sellers use it
You can create a challenge for your own listing. Follow the required watch time, write your username and date by hand, place the watch and note in one photo, and include the Challenge ID or public record link in your listing text. Usernames on the record are optional and are not verified by WatchTimestamp.
What this does not prove
WatchTimestamp does not authenticate watches, verify ownership, verify seller or buyer identity, detect image manipulation, hold funds, provide escrow, inspect items, or mediate disputes. A timestamp challenge only records that a specific Challenge ID and required watch time were issued at a specific moment. Buyers and sellers should still use normal marketplace caution.
There is no guarantee that a photo is unedited, that the person posting owns the item, or that any transaction is safe. A public challenge record only adds a fixed reference point — not proof of authenticity, ownership, or transaction safety.
Why we do not ask for uploads or sign-in
This site is intentionally minimal: no account, no email, no payment, and no image upload here. Photos stay on the channels you already use. The Reddit/seller username field is optional; if you provide one, it is stored on the public challenge record and PDF so the challenge is easier to match to a listing. Usernames are creator-provided and not verified. Limited rate-limit signals (such as hashed IP) are kept for abuse prevention only and are not shown publicly.
FAQ
Is this affiliated with Reddit? No. WatchTimestamp is not affiliated with Reddit or any watch marketplace.
What does “public record” mean? Anyone with the Challenge ID can open the public record lookup page. Do not treat the ID as secret.
What is the Challenge ID format? Each challenge gets a unique code in a fixed format. Copy it from the screen to avoid typos; you can always open the public record page from the link shown after you create the challenge.
Is there support? WatchTimestamp is a free utility and does not provide transaction support, dispute review, escrow, or mediation.
How long is a challenge active? New challenges expire after 14 days. After that, the public record lookup page shows expired and you should request a new challenge if you still need one.
